New Book Release at Belvidere Cornerstone
I’m excited to share that my new book,
Exploring the Art of Sentimental Hairwork,
will debut during the 2025 Allegany Artisans Studio Tour on October 18 and 19.
I invite you to visit me at the historic Belvidere Cornerstone,
where you can learn about the lost art of Victorian hairwork, watch live
demonstrations, and explore the ways memory, art, and community come
together in this tradition.
I’ll be at Stop #13 on the tour.
This project is made possible with funds from the
Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program
of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support
of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature
and administered by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
The Workbook is Printed!
I am thrilled to share that I have been awarded a 2025 Individual Arts Fellowship to share my new Victorian Hair Art workbook with you.
As part of this special project, I am offering free workshops this summer on the nearly forgotten art of Victorian Hair Work.
These workshops offer a hands-on opportunity to learn the fascination techniques used to create both flat palette work and
three-dimensional floral hair art, reminiscent of the treasured keepsakes made in the 1800s.

As part of the 2024 Rural and Traditional Arts Fellowship, I led a series of community presentations, offering attendees a rare opportunity to explore the intricate craft of Victorian Hair Wreaths. These wreaths, meticulously crafted from human hair, feature elaborate, floral-inspired designs.
I created the “Community Unity Wreath” using hair generously donated by Allegany County residents, with each lock symbolizing an individual. This collaborative piece represents the strength and unity of our local community, woven together into a stunning showpiece.
The following organizations hosted my presentations on
“The Lost Art of Victorian Hair Art”
and will have the opportunity to display the artwork:
